How MyDrobe uses AI to create your images and ratings, and how we keep your photos private.

MyDrobe uses artificial intelligence to turn your photos into studio product shots, virtual try-ons, flat lays and outfit ratings. This page explains exactly what happens to an image when you tap a create button, and the choices you have.

What we send for processing

When you use an AI feature, MyDrobe securely sends the following to our AI provider (Google Gemini) so it can generate your result:

  • The photo or wardrobe images you selected for that action.
  • The prompt and options for the action (for example the type of shot, or the model/pose settings you chose).

Requests are routed through our secure backend (Firebase Cloud Functions) so that our AI provider API keys are never stored on your device. Transfers are encrypted in transit.

What we do not do

  • We do not use your photos to train AI models. Your images are used only to generate the result you asked for.
  • We do not sell your photos or share them with advertisers.
  • We do not publish your images or make them visible to other users.

Where your images live

Your wardrobe items, generated outfits and photos are stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, synced privately through your own Apple iCloud account. MyDrobe does not keep a copy of your personal wardrobe on our servers. Images sent for AI generation are processed to create your result and are not retained by us beyond what is needed to return it to you.

On-device processing

Some features run entirely on your device and never leave your phone, for example detecting and cropping the person in a photo, and quick clothing classification. These use Apple's on-device Vision and machine-learning frameworks.

Your consent and controls

The first time you use an AI feature, MyDrobe asks for your consent to process your photos. You are always in control of which photos you add and which actions you run. You can delete any wardrobe item, outfit or photo at any time from within the app, and you can delete all of your data whenever you wish.
